The End of the Year Book Tag

(1) Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Yes. Those would be, currently:

We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson
Gone, Gone, Gone by Hannah Moskowitz
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
Friends and Lovers by Eric Jerome Dickey
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

(2) Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Maybe... I’ve never answered a question like this so hopefully I’m doing it right. I’m now starting to do seasonal TBRs (the 52 Week Challenge / Fantasy Football thing I was doing with books back in January was a fail. I still have about 20 something books left to read this year. I should be okay if I read 5 books a month from September to December). But I feel some of the books I chose for this TBR kind of feels like Fall time reads. Some of them are:

The Secret History by Donna Tartt
The Scary Story Treasury by Alvin Schwartz
Wilder Girls by Rory Power
Turn of the Screw by Ruth Ware
Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh
Books of Blood Vol. 1-3 by Clive Barker

(3) Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

I don’t keep up or watch for new releases but I am looking forward to the third, and I believe final, books in the Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman and Renegades by Marissa Meyer trilogies because by then they will be completed and I could read the books in each series back to back.

(4) What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Let’s see...

Red White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin
Supermarket by Bobby Hall

(5) Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Maybe...

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

(6) Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?

Yes. And they are to not set a Goodreads Annual reading goal. I’ve been setting myself a yearly reading goal through Goodreads since 2013 and I want to revert back to when I was reading just whatever during whenever without having a set goal to be made by the end of the year. I’m also curious how many books I do read a year without setting a specific goal to be met. I honestly cannot wait!

52 Week Book Challenge

For 2019 I had decided to take on the 52 Week Book Challenge, which means reading a book a week. I was inspired to do this challenge by another BookTuber who is no longer making videos. She made this challenge seem so much fun and original because she put her own twist to it. Each month I’m likely to read four books (one a week) and after that month is over out of those four books I will pick a favorite from that month. That month’s favorite will carry on over to run against the other books to determine my favorite book of the season (winter, spring, summer, fall). And once I have one favorite book for each season, out of those four I will determine my favorite book of the year. I hope that wasn’t too complicated. It’s like a Fantasy Football type of twist. This idea was the real reason why I decided to take up this challenge, it has been so much fun so far.

Now just because I’m doing this challenge doesn’t mean that I’m not also reading books on the side, obviously. I do plan to read more than 52 books this year but that is my reaching starting point. So far I’m up to date, I’ve read two books this month and am on my third. If this idea interest you please consider taking up the challenge. I also feel like this is a good challenge for me because it helps me work on my reading pace. I’m a pretty slow reading and books that would probably take me a month to read I’m pushing for a week to read. It’s been awesome lol.
